New Household Waste Site – Kington
Severn Waste has developed proposals to develop a new Household Waste and Recycling Centre for Kington, Herefordshire.
Once completed, local residents will be able to recycle a large range of recyclable materials at the facility, including plastic bottles, cans, green garden waste, scrap metal, batteries and a variety of other materials as well as general and bulky waste.
The Company operates five similar sites in the county and they make a tremendous contribution towards recycling. These sites received around 28,000 tonnes of materials in the last year and 70% was either recycled or composted. With the new facility, local residents will have more opportunities for recycling without having to travel to the next nearest facilities at Leominster and Hereford.
The proposal was granted planning permission in July 2009 and construction is expected to commence in early 2010 leading to commissioning in the middle of the year. Click here to view the details of the scheme presented at an exhibition to the public.
The site will be open for the reception of materials on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 08.00 to 18.00 hrs.
