Issue No.6: Update on construction mobilisation of EnviRecover
A large part of the main excavation work has been completed and traffic numbers substantially reduced. Most of the excavated material now being taken off site is the material coming out of the piling holes. There will be an increase in earthworks activity towards the end of November to complete the main boiler hall excavation as well as the waste bunker. It is hoped that this phase of the project will be completed before the end of the year subject to the weather.
There are currently five piling rigs on the site constructing the excavation retaining walls and putting in the foundation supports for the main process plant. The piling rigs are serviced with large cranes for inserting steel reinforcement.
The construction compound and site cabins are being relocated to the southern boundary of the site.
There are now over 90 people employed on the site, including office staff and site personnel.
Contractors for Severn Trent Water have started work on the trading estate to install the new water main. At the same time, work is in progress to bring the new main in from the north, entering the trading estate from Ryeland Lane. The water main is scheduled for completion before the end of the year.
