Issue No.8: Update on construction mobilisation of EnviRecover
Monitored by Worcestershire Regulatory Services the contractor has continued to work extended hours over several weekends.
The excavation and off-site disposal of material is now around 70% complete. In recent weeks, due to operational constraints at Mercia’s Hill & Moor landfill site, the contractor has been making use of alternative disposal sites, located in the Dudley/Stourbridge area and in Warwickshire. These sites are either fully permitted by the Environment Agency (EA) or operate under Exemptions from Environmental Permits. The EA’s officer has inspected the relevant paperwork held at the site office and has found all the procedures to be satisfactory.
Piling work around the main excavation, the waste bunker area and in the floor area of the main building is continuing, and should be complete in January.
Whilst a small number of workers will be on site around the Christmas break (not including statutory holidays), the main construction activity will cease from 24th December 2014, recommencing on 3rd January 2015.
The second Community Liaison Group (CLG) meeting was held on 25th November 2014. Minutes will be posted on this website once they have been approved by attendees. The minutes from the first CLG meeting are now available on the website.
On Wednesday 3rd December 2014, the Company hosted a drop-in event at Hartlebury Parish Hall, to give people an opportunity to speak with Mercia and representatives of the contractors which was attended by over 40 people. If you have any queries, please address them to Envirecover@severnwaste.co.uk
