New Household Recycling Centre for Tenbury
Construction starts at the Business Park on Bromyard Road, Tenbury
County waste management contractor, Mercia Waste Management, has issued an announcement that work has begun on construction of a new household recycling centre to serve Tenbury Wells and surrounding villages in Worcestershire.
The new centre will be located at the Tenbury Business Park on Bromyard Road to the south of the town. It will replace the small skip site which currently occupies a corner of the leisure centre car park on Palmers Meadow. Planning permission for the site was granted in November 2014.
Modelled on other recycling centres in the County, the new site will be a split level design so users will not have to climb steps up to the general waste and garden waste containers. There will also be a full suite of containers for the reception of a range of recyclables - from cans and bottles to fluorescent tubes and batteries. Segregation of recyclable materials at similar sites located around the County are seeing over 70% of input material diverted from landfill.
The new site is expected to be ready by the end of January and will be open to the public on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
