Issue No.22: Update on construction mobilisation of EnviRecover
The main building steel frame, including the tipping hall, has been completed. Cladding of the whole building is in progress and will be completed within the next few weeks.
All the main process plant components are now installed, with extensive electrical installation and connections currently on-going. The testing of the electrical control systems, compressed air, and hydraulic systems is in progress.
All the silos are now in place. Construction of the weighbridge/site control office complex has commenced as has work on the site roads at ground level and the -8.00m level.
The main electricity export cable has been installed to the Western Power Distribution sub-station within the site and the system has been energised. The focus of work will shortly move towards the commissioning phase of the project and getting ready for the first receipt of waste. There is a Commissioning Protocol agreed between Mercia, the main contractor HZI, and also the Environment Agency, as outlined to the Community Liaison Group, which most recently met on 16th May.
Once the details and timetable for commissioning activities are confirmed, Mercia will provide further information via the website, the construction update bulletin, and also through a leaflet drop to properties closest to the plant. The intention is to advise people about activities that may be seen and heard as commissioning unfolds.
Site organisation and Health and Safety continues to be maintained to a high standard. In recent weeks over 400 people have been engaged on site works.
