Issue No.25: Update on construction mobilisation of EnviRecover
All the preliminary phases of commissioning in the plant process areas have now been completed, and EnviRecover is ready for the first firing with waste. This is scheduled for around 4th October 2016.
The first loads of waste arrived on 16th September 2016 to enable commissioning of the waste cranes. Waste deliveries, via Severn Waste’s transfer stations and from the District Collection Authorities are starting to build up in the bunker. The weighbridge, control office and traffic management systems are in use.
All the operational control systems, environmental monitoring and fire safety systems are now in place.
All the relevant planning and Environmental Permit conditions and other relevant process and regulatory approvals that are required to enable waste firing to commence, have been satisfied or secured.
This phase of ‘Hot Commissioning’ is under the control of the main contractor HZI, but with Severn Waste’s full on site management team in attendance for familiarisation and training. This final commissioning period is the time when the plant is ‘fine-tuned’ to operate safely and efficiently against an agreed testing protocol before hand-over to Severn Waste in early 2017.
The contractor is continuing with the final phases of build out; completing the cladding to the main building; final groundworks; perimeter fencing and gates; completion of the administration block fit-out.
Site control, operations and Health and Safety continue to be maintained to a high standard. There are around 300 people engaged on site on the project.
