Commissioning of the facility has been completed ahead of to the programme.
During the last week the takeover tests witnessed by the independent certified body were successfully completed. Support systems such as building services were excluded, as their status does not feature in the programme for final tests.
The final takeover tests are being completed this week.
The programme remains on schedule achieve the handover by the main contractor, HZI to Mercia Waste Management by end of February.
We have agreed with the planning authority that some minor works may run on after the handover, as HZI complete surface works in the area currently occupied by construction cabins.
The main ongoing construction works comprise of completion of the administration building fit-out, kerbing and tarmacking the internal roads, installation of the permanent lighting scheme and landscaping.
Waste input traffic and vehicle movements associated with lime and carbon deliveries and removal of residues are at around 100 per day (100 in and 100 out).
There are around 150 people now engaged. Some of the construction cabins have been demobilised and removed.
Site control, operations and Health and Safety continue to be maintained to a high standard. The management team of Severn Waste Services, as operators, are now in place working alongside the contractor’s staff.
