Severn Waste Services is currently recruiting for a Maintenance Fitter (Vehicles & Plant) at our maintenance department at Hill & Moor
The working days will be Sunday to Thursday, 8.00am-5.00pm. Total of 42.5 hours per week.

Job Title Maintenance Fitter
Location Hill and Moor Landfill site, Piddle Brook Lane, Wyre Piddle, Pershore,
Responsible to Maintenance Manager infrastructure and Fleet
Job Purpose To ensure that all Company vehicles, plant and equipment are maintained and operated correctly in a safe and efficient condition and that all repair and maintenance works are carried out in the most effective manner.
To maintain Company equipment, vehicle and plant to ensure its continued safe and efficient operation.
Maintain records of planned routine/preventative maintenance and repair programmes for vehicles, equipment and plant.
Carry out preventive maintenance.
Investigate equipment failures and rectify defects in a timely manner.
To implement an effective minor repairs and defects rectification system.
To ensure the provision and security of materials, tools and equipment appropriate to the needs of the maintenance department.
To liaise with external agencies and private contractors to support the maintenance and upkeep of the facilities.
To assist in the instruction of other appropriate staff in the daily operation of all associated plant and machinery.
Carry out modifications, improvement activities and other tasks to reduce down-time of vehicles, plant and equipment
In the absence of the maintenance manager, supervise Contractors on site and issue/close Permits to Work.
Carry out checks on machinery/plant/equipment in accordance with planned maintenance each month.
Undertake replacement of worn parts either as required or on a regular replacement cycle
Support reordering process for workshop availability of essential spares.
It is essential that you have regard to your responsibilities under the terms of the Companys Health and Safety Policy. You must always adopt the safe working practices described in the relevant Codes of Practice and adhere to other guidance and instructions which you may receive from time to time in respect of Health and Safety.
Any other duties which may reasonably be required.
Knowledge / Qualifications
City and Guilds or NVQ Level 2/3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or similar preferred
Full Clean driving License
Ability / Experience
Enthusiastic and committed with the ability to work independently, showing initiative.
Adaptable and flexible, comfortable to take on variety of different tasks and machinery
